It Has Been A While Longer!

Hello everyone!

It has been eight years since I last posted on my blog The Chess Page.

Life keeps moving and I have been doing really well. It has been a long time since I dived into the world of chess and I am ready to get back into it! I’ve been enjoying looking back over old games, following tournaments across the globe and just learning more about chess.

So… I am going to start posting again!

This blog basically documents my chess journey. It’s a place for me to post anything chess related and hopefully in the process of doing so, it will provide insights that may help you improve your chess skills too.

To get us back into the swing of things. Here is a blitz game I recently played that highlights the importance of getting your king to safety.

Blitz Game

Hi all!
Here is a blitz game that I played recently that I enjoyed. I am sure it is far from perfect but it was still a fun game. The opening is the Sicilian Defence – Najdorf variation. I used to play the Sicilian a lot when I was younger but have not been playing it much lately due to the vast variations that need to be learnt to open with confidence. I have mainly been sticking to Anti-Sicilian variations when playing the white pieces and playing e5 after e4 with the black pieces. However, I have decided that I am now up to the challenge and am ready to tackle the most popular opening in chess once again, well I think I am?!

Blitz Game

I have been trying to improve my play against the French Defence as it is an opening I have always had trouble playing against.  There are so many variations and It has been really interesting to look into so far.
One of the variations that I have found quite interesting is the Winawer – Advance variation.
Here is my first win using the Winawer in a blitz game on Chesscube. It is a bit of a Hack Attack but it shows the attacking potential in the opening.
