Daily Study Today I played more bullet games. Here is a game I misplayed in the opening, but I managed to get a simple mate in three.

I watched this Andras Toth video

I went through the following game (included in Mammoth Book Of Chess Games). In the game Zukertort chose not to place the rooks on the only open file and the play was justified. Got me thinking, as I often just play the rook to the open file without thinking.

Puzzle Rush Score 40

Daily Study Today I played a few blitz games on Lichess. I went there to check out the opening explorer as I had heard that it can identify what openings you are strong / weak at based on your game results. I forgot to check it though, so that is still on the to do list.

I played a nice game in the French where I had the opportunity to go for an Anastasias Mate pattern. I didn’t quite get there with it, but did enough damage to win.

Day 58

Puzzle Rush Score 28

Daily Study Today I played three blitz games. I won one and lost two. I had good positions in all of the games (I even blundered a full bishop and was still winning) and it was blunders in time trouble that led to the losses. Today I was excited to see that Maxime Vachier-Lagrave had a win in the Grand Swiss against the French Defense using the same line I have been working on that Carissa Yip used in the U.S Women’s Chess Championships.

It would be great to see Maxime finish in the top two and secure a spot in the Candidates Tournament.

Here is the game (annotations by Peter Doggers).
