My rating continues to creep up, but I haven’t cracked 1800 yet. I played a few games today and did a lesson on the Kings Indian. When I went to practice what I learnt in game, I got smashed every time haha
Here is a nice game where my opponent destroys me.
Today I played a few games and didn’t feel as sharp as I usually would. My accuracy scores reflected this too. In my games I have been trying two things in the openings. Nf6 against d4 and c6 against e4. Both of these moves are quite new to me and I’ve taken quite a few wrong steps in the openings.
I read a few pages of one of my favourite chess books “Better Chess”. The topic was “Pawn takes pawn” and it was looking at calculating which pawn to capture with, to push the pawn or to maintain the tension. The example was one of the main line positions in the Kings Indian Defense. In the Kings Indian you have to think about whether or not you want to open, close or maintain the tension in the position.
