Daily Study Today we saw another great game and another draw. I am absolutely loving all these Ruy Lopez games. This one was once again very insightful. Carlsen defends so well!

Here is the game from today (annotated by Sam Shankland).

Daily Study Today we had another draw with Carlsen leading with e4 and a Petrov Defense. I don’t know much about the Petrov and so I have always avoided it by following up with 3. Nc3 to enter into a Four Knights game. This is a particularly quiet line, but I haven’t yet delved into the world of the Petrov enough to feel confident playing the mainline. The interesting novelty from Carlsen came with the move 18. Nh4, but ultimately it ended up in a draw.

Daily Study It was a World Chess Championship rest day today, so it was back to the books! I had a look over a Fischer game. The game was an epic Kings Indian Defense.

Daily Study It was another Ruy Lopez in round three of the World Chess Championship today. The game was not exciting as the first two, but I still found it interesting as someone that plays the Ruy.

I started making an opening file of Ruy Lopez positions when it comes to the Marshall and anti-Marshall lines.
