Today in Australia it is Father’s Day. To celebrate I had a game of chess with my dad. He enjoys playing chess, but is not as strong as me at the game. In our game I didn’t press too hard in the opening and allowed the position to lock up a bit. To finish the game I brought all the pieces in for the attack.

This was an interesting blitz game. My opponent played a weak opening that gave me a slight advantage from the start and then the game had a few interesting attacking ideas along with a few missed ideas.
Here is a fun blitz game where I made an opening error in the Queens Gambit – Slav, but followed up with solid play. It highlights the idea of king activity and placing pressure on backward pawns.
